## The Tony Awards: ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ and ‘Stereophonic’ Top the Nominations
The 2024 Tony Awards nominations have been announced, with Broadway musical ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ and play ‘Stereophonic’ leading the pack with 13 nominations each.
Top Musicals:
‘Hell’s Kitchen,’ inspired by the life of Alicia Keys, and ‘The Outsiders,’ based on the classic novel by S.E. Hinton, are the frontrunners in the musical categories. Both shows received nods for Best Musical, along with ‘Illinoise,’ ‘Suffs,’ and ‘Water for Elephants.’
Leading Performances in Musicals:
The race for Best Leading Actress in a Musical is a tight one, with Eden Espinosa (‘Lempicka’), Maleah Joi Moon (‘Hell’s Kitchen’), Maryann Plunkett (‘The Notebook’), and Gayle Rankin (‘Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club’) competing against each other.
In the Best Leading Actor category, Jonathan Groff (‘Merrily We Roll Along’), Dorian Harewood (‘The Notebook’), Brian d’Arcy James (‘Days of Wine and Roses’), and Eddie Redmayne (‘Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club’) are all vying for the prestigious award.

‘Stereophonic,’ a fictional tale of a 1970s rock band, and ‘Appropriate,’ which explores themes of race and family, are the leading contenders for Best Play. They face competition from ‘An Enemy of the People,’ ‘Mary Jane,’ ‘Mother Play,’ and ‘Prayer for the French Republic.’

Betsy Aidem (‘Prayer of the French Republic’), Jessica Lange (‘Mother Play’), Sarah Paulson (‘Appropriate’), and Amy Ryan (‘Doubt’) are among the nominees for Best Leading Actress in a Play.

Daniel Radcliffe, known for his role as Harry Potter, earned a nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical for his portrayal in ‘Merrily We Roll Along.’
Bebe Neuwirth, a seasoned Tony winner, returns to the stage as a nominee for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical for her role in ‘Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club.’
